Fine Arts Fusion!
Daytime Music & Art Classes
Have you ever wished your child could access a program
that includes both Music and Art?
We are thrilled to announce that starting in January 2025, Certified Alberta Education Teacher and Music and Fine Arts Specialist Carmen Holst will be teaching daytime weekly lessons on Mondays at House of Music!!!
The first half of Fine Arts Fusion will be dedicated to learning all about MUSIC! Students will get to explore their voice and develop basic playing skills on hand drums, piano, ukulele, recorder, xylophone, and a variety of rhythm percussion! Popular classroom resources such as the Kodály Method and MusicPlay will also be utilized.
Music games are an integral part of the Kodály method! They teach everything from how to keep a beat to how to read music. Imagine your child coming home with five musical variations on Duck Duck Goose and fresh ideas about what they can do with a basketball!
The second half of Fine Arts Fusion will provide a strong foundation in visual art. We do more than make crafts! Students will discover their inner artist and learn a variety of skills such as how to mix colours using science and paint, create collages, build sculptures, use a variety of drawing materials, discover printmaking, experiment with clay, try different ways to make a picture, and so much more! They will have the opportunity to learn about a variety of artists to help inform their creations and will be given plenty of opportunities to explore and experiment.
Testimonial
"Mrs. Holst's commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued and encouraged to explore their creativity is commendable. Not only is she dedicated to her students, but Mrs. Host is tremendously proud of the growth and development of her students, and this pride is palpable when she showcases their work to parents"

All about Carmen
My name is Carmen Holst and I am the Fine Arts & Music Educator at Free Spirits Creative Academy!
I have always been a free spirit. From the time I was little I have been happiest in settings where I am allowed to be uniquely me. I thrived the most in learning environments that offered hands-on and experiential learning opportunities, where instruction was flexible and could be adapted to my specific learning style. I was surrounded by people who made me feel safe to be me and this is what I strive to offer every student I teach.
